westminster palace reimagined

These images are from my latest multimedia installation, ‘Latent Encounters’ which combines digital video, 3D modelling, 3D printing and sound design within a curated dark space. Two physical artworks accompany the video: ‘Hollowed Palace’ where I invert Westminster Palace and three bas-relief ‘Steps of the Embedded’.

‘Latent Encounters’ explores the relationship between bureaucracy and architecture and how they define each other. I approached this by creating a physically impossible imaginary space to directly speculate on how Westminster Palace (The Houses of Parliament) affects the MPs’ relationship to their job through its monarchical aesthetics.

I also took this opportunity to think through my relationship to my university and how decisions by management, who we don’t see, have changed my relationship to the architectural spaces due to the opening of old institutional wounds.
